#Location inputs

Redfin area searches take zip, city with state, county with state, bbox, or lat with lng and radius_mi. They do not take neighborhood.

A city or county search uses its official US Census boundary. Every row comes from inside it, and reported_total is null. A city name matches the Census place, so Nashville finds Nashville-Davidson and Honolulu finds Urban Honolulu. For an independent city that counts as a county, send the kind, like county=Baltimore city.

Home lookups take address, url or source_id. An address is found through its Census map point and Redfin's homes for sale or sold in the last 5 years nearby. A home that has not been for sale or sold in that time returns address_not_found; send its url or source_id instead. The source_id is the number at the end of the home's Redfin URL.

#Things to know

Searches return up to 100 homes per page. Redfin doesn't give a total for homes for sale or sold, so reported_total is null there. Rentals give one.
Redfin's order can shift between pages. We leave out homes already sent on the two pages before, so a page can have fewer than 100 rows and still have a next_cursor. A shift can also skip a home, most often without sort. Send sort when you page through a large area.
sold_within_days takes 7, 30, 90, 180, 365, 730 or 1095. Redfin has no 14-day window.
Sales from public records come back without sold_date in search. Call property for the date.
In non-disclosure states like Texas, Redfin hides sale prices. sale_price is null and sale_price_disclosure is not_disclosed.
Rentals don't take year_built_min or year_built_max.
property leaves value_history null: Redfin's estimate history comes without dates. estimate gives Redfin's current estimate.
The estimates are Redfin's, labeled source: redfin. We don't make our own.
comps ranks Redfin's recent sales near a home the same way as Zillow's comps, so you can compare the two sources' answers.
