RealtyCrawl vs RentCast. Different data, very different prices.
RentCast is built on county public records, with its own value and rent estimates. RealtyCrawl returns what Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, StreetEasy and Auction.com show: listings, sold homes, price history and their estimates. RealtyCrawl costs far less per call.

The short answer. It depends on the job.
Pick by the data you need. RentCast is built on county public records: owners, deeds, tax assessments and its own AVM value and rent estimates, for 150M+ properties, listed or not. RealtyCrawl returns what the big portals show: homes for sale, sold homes with sale prices, rentals, full price history, and Zillow's, Redfin's and Realtor.com's own estimates. On price per call RealtyCrawl is far lower: $9 for 1,000 credits against RentCast's $74 for 1,000 requests, and $29 for 5,000 against $199.
Why teams pick RealtyCrawl
- $9 for 1,000 credits against $74 for 1,000 requests.
- Live portal data: Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, StreetEasy and Auction.com.
- Sold homes with sale price and date, straight from the sold search.
- The portals' own estimates: Zestimate, Redfin Estimate and Realtor.com's three.
- Typed MCP tools for each route.
When RentCast fits
- You need owner names, deeds or tax assessments.
- You want one AVM across every property, not each portal's.
- You need ZIP-level market statistics.
- You want a free tier that renews every month.
Public records first. RentCast covers 150M+ properties from county records, including homes that aren't listed anywhere.
Its own estimates. RentCast makes its own value and rent estimates with comps. RealtyCrawl passes through the portals' estimates; its only number of its own is the comps' indicated value (median price per sqft times size).

What you get with RealtyCrawl.
The differences that matter when you build on real-estate data.
A fraction of the price per call
Lite is $9 for 1,000 credits and Starter $29 for 5,000. RentCast's matching plans are $74 for 1,000 and $199 for 5,000 requests.
Sold homes, searchable
Search an area for homes sold in the last 7 days to 3 years, with sale price, date and how the price is known. RentCast's listings have no sold status.
What buyers actually see
The listing as Zillow, Redfin or Realtor.com shows it: price cuts, days on market, the listing agent and the portal's own estimate.
Five portals, one schema
Each portal has its own routes, all returning the same core fields, so one parser handles every source.
NYC and foreclosures
StreetEasy's recorded NYC closing prices and co-op costs, and Auction.com's foreclosure auctions, bids and results.
Cheap overage
Extra credits are $3 per 1,000. RentCast charges $0.015 to $0.20 per request over the plan.

I'm building with the RealtyCrawl API. It returns real-estate data from Zillow as typed JSON: homes for sale, sold homes, rentals, property history, estimates and comps. Read the docs first: https://realtycrawl.com/llms.txt OpenAPI spec: https://realtycrawl.com/openapi.json Rules for the code you write: - Base URL: https://api.realtycrawl.com/v1 - Auth: send the header "Authorization: Bearer <key>". Read the key from the REALTYCRAWL_KEY environment variable. Never put it in browser code. - Zillow sold homes: GET /zillow/sold?zip=<5-digit ZIP>&sold_within_days=90. You can send city and state instead of zip. - A call often answers 202 with status "pending" and a poll_url. Poll GET /jobs/<request_id>?wait=20 with the same header until status is "complete" or "failed". - The rows are in result.data, each with address, sale_price, sold_date, sale_price_disclosure and source_url. sale_price is null when the price isn't public; result.field_notes says why. Never replace a null with a guess. - result.summary has median_sale_price and median_price_per_sqft. For the next page, send result.next_cursor as cursor. - A search costs 1 credit; property details and comps cost 2. A free account starts with 100 credits that do not refill, so save results while testing instead of repeating a call. Start with a short script that prints the median sale price for ZIP "80221". Then ask me what I want to build.
Per call, yes: $9 for 1,000 credits against $74 for 1,000 requests, and $29 for 5,000 against $199. The data differs, though. RentCast is built on public records; RealtyCrawl returns portal listings, sold homes and history.
Its property records include the last sale date and price and the sale history from public records. Its sale listings show active or inactive only, with no sold status. RealtyCrawl's sold routes search sold homes by area with the sale price and date.
RentCast says the legacy Realty Mole API on RapidAPI was shut down on March 1, 2025, and RentCast serves the same endpoints and data.
Yes, for its docs, schemas and code generation, and it can make live calls with your key. RealtyCrawl's MCP server has one typed tool for each data route.
